You can get the USB 3.0 data cable at the Apple Store. Plug it in the port on the interior escutcheon, attach the escutcheon to the mounting plate, and install the four AA batteries.
When the lock had the power to be able to do the auto-handling of the escutcheon and added itself to the list in the top right corner, it was secure to proceed.
